Johann Strauß Apartment
Johann Strauss lived in this apartment for seven years. At the time, Praterstraße was a fashionable and elegant suburban street. It was right in this very place that, in 1867, he composed The Blue Danube waltz, Austria’s much loved unofficial national anthem. Like a shrine to this world class composer, his apartment displays some of Strauss’ personal collections, instruments and furniture which gives visitors an insights into this enthusiastic musician’s life.
From caricatures to billiard tables step inside Strauss’ world to get a better understanding of one of Vienna’s most accomplished composers.
